Hello and Welcome!
Get used to those two words because Shrimp 'n Lobster use them a lot. Hello and Welcome! Bonjour et Bienvenue! Hola y Bienvenido! Aloha a Ho'okipa! You get the idea...It's the perfect greeting for EVERYONE! Shrimp 'n Lobster want you to join them on their adventures, one book at a time.
How it All Got Started
These little guys have been a part of my life for a long time and I am happy to share them with you. And boy have they grown! Even looking at this image of me...that was back in 2014, reminds me of how green I was. I was putting together their first "go to" book; Shrimp 'n Lobster go to Paris. (Maybe I'll dig that sucker up and show you all how much they've changed. It's an amazing transformation). Bottom line, I had no idea how much work would be involved or what I had to do to develop a book, or how many pages it had to be...I really just went for it. Thank goodness for amazing friends and family who supported me along the way. It takes a village to say the least.
Originally, Shrimp 'n Lobster started off as characters on Christmas cards. I thought it was a fun way to welcome my friends into the holidays with the cheer of a ridiculous Shrimp 'n Lobster and one of their wacky sea creature friends. Of course a Barracuda makes a great holiday card! I also had this desire to let people know what kind of amazing ocean creatures are out there.
Just bold and italicize the word desire, because it turned into a passion. I love illustrating ocean creatures just as much as I love learning about the ocean, especially with Shrimp 'n Lobster as my sidekicks. I love that they explore the world with open eyes...and it's not because they don't have eyelids! Sometimes, I think they are more brave than me, and sometimes they just crack me up with their ridiculous antics. Oh to be a cartoon!
And so here we are. Five years later. We've developed a Sea Creatures pocket book and we have two go to books to be released in the Spring of 2021. This is a really exciting time. And I hope you join us on our adventure!
So tell me, what is your passion? What do you enjoy when you're not in the office or working at home? Perhaps we can inspire each other to keep plugging away at our dreams. All I know is something magical is happening and I can't wait to go on this adventure with you.
