Picking up Trash Keeps the Streets and The Ocean Clean

What you might not have known about plastics!

Every year 17.6 billion pounds of plastics makes it way to the ocean. By 2050 the amount of plastic in the ocean will outweigh the fish.

There are five garbage patches swirling out in the ocean. The Great Pacific Garbage patch the largest one, is twice the size of Texas.

It takes 400 years for plastic to break down. Once it breaks down into microplastic (super tiny particles), it can be easily ingested and entered into the food chain.

Hey, did you know 90% of commercially produced sea salt has plastic particles in it. Gross!

Every year 100,000 marine mammals are killed due to the affects of plastics.

You don't have to live near the ocean to protect it and save our wildlife. Be an active participant in your community by keeping the streets clean. Also, avoid plastic bags! Bring your own when you can. The ocean and all the life living in it will thank you for it.
