It’s officially Summer!! Don’t get too excited pulling out your shorts and t-shirts anticipating that California sun while exploring San Francisco's top attractions like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Coit Tower. You’ll be far more likely to bump into Karl the fog, who tends to dampen any summery mood. So layer up! Wear your best walking shoes, and get ready to take in San Francisco’s summer festivities. Here is what’s happening in San Francisco in the month of July!

Friday, July 1


North Beach Art Walk (FIRST FRIDAYS) Explore galleries, eat and drink in the heart of North Beach. Each Month will be at a different theme. Learn more HERE


Yerba Buena Gardens Festival - Dedicated to inspire, entertain! KA-Hon (Kids show) from 11:00-11:30 and a repeat show at 12:15-12:45 in the Yerba Buena Gardens. A delightful musical ensemble showing us how they rock out with a Ka-hon. Don’t know what a Ka-hon is? It’s a box! See for yourself!


Giants Baseball Home Game: It’s a sparkler and worth mentioning!! Grab a seat for Fireworks night. Check out a pre-firework display before the 4th! The Giants will be playing the Chicago White Sox. Hey, did you know the White Sox have a green monster at their stadium? (If you miss this game, The Giants will be playing the White Sox July 2 & July 3 too! Off the Grid Fort Mason: Night Market & Food Truck Party - EVERY FRIDAY


Swing by Fort Mason located in the Marina District for Off The Grid’s 12th season delighting locals and visitors with 25 unique food trucks, beverages and live music. This is the largest food truck market in California! The grid has been open since April and will continue to entertain until November 11th, every Friday from 5-10pm! SF Bike Party (FIRST FRIDAYS) This is a volunteer run event and is open for kids and adults. Every month has a different theme with a different route. Dress up and be silly, explore sf on two wheels! For more details for location and times visit their website HERE. (This is NOT a CRITICAL MASS)

ART WALK SF - DIVISADERO STREET


Every first Saturday of the month the Art Walk will visit a new neighborhood! 12-5pm Shop or just take in all the extraordinary creations designed by local artists and merchants. Keep an ear out for live music and performances too and don’t forget your appetite! Learn more HERE

Stern Grove Concert in The Park - Musical guest: Cold War Kids

The Stern Grove festival began on June 12 and ends August 14th. Ticket reservations open up on Tuesdays, two weeks before the event. You will need this ticket to get into the venue and even that won’t guarantee you a seat! So get there early. This SFmusic festival is FREE, unless you prefer a table which will cost ya!

Every year Fisherman’s Wharf hosts the 4th of July firework show! Be sure to get there early to check out live music, BBQ and not to mention spectacular fireworks….unless Karl the fog rolls in to obstruct the view. The show begins at 9:30…but there’s plenty to do in Fisherman’s Wharf before the eye dazzling event.

“Golden Gate Park Band'' FREE concert - This is not the common four piece group, this is a 30 piece symphony! They have been playing since 1882, and this is their 140th season! No need to fine tune these instruments, these pro’s have been entertaining us for more than 100 years and counting! Now that’s music to our ears. The concert starts at 1pm and ends around 2:30 at the Spreckles Temple of Music in the music concourse between the de Young Museum and the Legion of Honor. Learn more HERE!

Golden Gate Bandshell Concerts, Lift Every Voice concert Series (Every Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday) This FREE concert series features classic, jazz, rock, reggae and folk music in more than 100 performances ending in November. Catch the tunes at 4:00pm in GG Park at the Spreckles Concourse.

FIRST THURSDAY - FREE Day at the Museum of Modern Art. Art enthusiasts 18 years old and younger enter free every day. Now you have no excuse not to visit SOMA to explore the MOMA!!

Sunday Streets - Valencia Street Explore the Mission by checking out a super fun street festival. Mosey, skip, jump or dance your way from 14th to 26th Street.


Sunday Streets is a moving festival that takes part throughout San Francisco’s most historic neighborhoods. Get ready to check out a closed off street stretching over a mile full of entertainment, from live music, food vendors and unique artisan booths. The event begins at 11:00 - 4:00pm

July 24th, Sunday


SF Marathon! This year marks the 45th year the race has been RUNNING! It starts and ends in the Embarcadero. They’re off at 5:30am, at Embarcadero and Mission and wrap up at 12:00pm at Embarcadero and Folsom. Participants traverse around the city including crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito, making it a truly beautiful and challenging event!

Nightlife at the Academy - SF Bazaar


For those that are 21 and up explore the Academy of Sciences at Night from 6:30 to 10:00pm . Enjoy your favorite exhibits and observe nocturnal creatures that you would not normally see during the day. Don’t forget to say hello to the Academy’s star attraction Claude the famous albino alligator and ole Methuselah, an Australian lungfish who is presumed to be the oldest living aquarium fish in the world at 90 years! Holy mackerel…er or should we say Holy Methuselah! The event hosts live DJ and adult beverages making it a groovy environment to mix and mingle. Sundown Cinema has a line up of 8 films in 8 parks throughout San Francisco this summer. Look for the feature closest to you or go on an adventure and explore a whole new neighborhood before your film! Be sure to arrive early to find your perfect spot. All events start at 6:30.
